I'm a mechanical engineering student at the University of Arkansas, and I tutor math from algebra through Calculus 2. I'm a mechanical engineering student at the University of Arkansas, and I tutor math from algebra through Calculus 2. My approach is built on the idea that most students who struggle with math don't have a "math brain" problem, they have a foundation problem. A student stuck in calculus is often really stuck on algebra or trig they were rushed through years ago. A student stuck in algebra is often missing something basic about how equations actually work. I spend time at the start figuring out where the real gap is, then we rebuild from there. I focus on the reasoning behind each step instead of pure memorization, because students who understand why a method works can rebuild it on a test even when they blank on a formula.

I tutor patiently and without judgment. I remember being the student who needed things explained more than once, and I never make anyone feel bad for asking the same question twice. Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I tutor Algebra 1 for middle school and high school students who are either falling behind or want to get ahead before next year. I went through this material recently myself and remember exactly which parts trip people up — slopes, word problems, factoring, and graphing usually. My sessions focus on working through actual homework problems together so the next quiz or test goes better. Sessions are patient, low-pressure, and built around whatever your class is currently covering.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is where a lot of students start losing confidence in math, usually around logs, conics, or systems of equations. I tutor students through their current course material and help them rebuild the Algebra 1 foundation if there are gaps slowing them down. As a mechanical engineering student, I use this stuff constantly, so I can show you why a topic actually matters instead of just how to do the problem. Available evenings and weekends.
Calculus

Calculus

I currently use Calculus daily in my engineering coursework and tutor students through Calc 1 and Calc 2 — limits, derivatives, integrals, series, and the application problems professors love to surprise you with. Geometry is the class where two-column proofs and angle theorems lose a lot of students. I tutor high schoolers through Geometry with a focus on proofs, triangles, circles, and coordinate geometry. As an engineering student, I work with shapes and angles constantly, so I can explain why the rules work, not just that they do. Sessions are flexible around your class pace and whatever your teacher is currently covering.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Pre-Calc is the launchpad for Calculus, and the students who struggle in Calc 1 are almost always the ones who never fully locked in trig identities, function transformations, or limits. I tutor pre-calc students with the next class in mind, so you're not just passing this one — you're ready for what comes next. I went through this exact sequence recently and remember the parts that took the longest to click. Available for ongoing weekly sessions or one-off exam prep. A few things to do after pasting these: Add a real profile photo (not AI-generated, not a selfie in a hoodie — clean, daylight, smiling). Wyzant profiles with photos get 3-4x more contacts than ones without. Set your rate at $25-30/hr to start; raise it after your first 3-5 sessions and a couple of 5-star ratings. Reply to messages within an hour for the first two weeks — Wyzant's algorithm rewards fast response time hard, and students message multiple tutors at once. One more thing: when you submit, Wyzant approves each subject manually. The "Calculus" approval sometimes asks for proof you took the course. Be ready to upload your transcript or a screenshot from UAConnect showing your Calc 2 grade.
