I have a Master of Science in Statistics and a strong background in mathematics, statistics, and applied data analysis. I spent five years working as a Research Analyst where I used quantitative and analytical skills in a professional setting. I also taught college algebra at the University of Arkansas, giving me experience explaining mathematical concepts to students with different backgrounds and levels of confidence.
In addition to my college teaching experience, I provided one-on-one Algebra I tutoring to a homeschooled student for an entire school year. I have also spent several years helping my own children with mathematics, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. These experiences have given me a good understanding of the challenges students face as they progress from foundational math into more advanced algebraic concepts.
My approach is patient and individualized. I want students to understand why a method works rather than simply memorize the steps needed to get an answer. I work through problems with students, identify where their understanding begins to break down, and explain concepts in different ways until we find an approach that makes sense to them. I enjoy helping students build confidence in math and statistics and become more comfortable solving problems independently.
