I have worked as a substitute teacher in the public school system for one year. I have worked as a paraprofessional, a one-on-one aid, and as an instructor in a local preschool for the past 2.5 years. My current classroom is based on the Easter Seals STAR program for students diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. As the instructor of this classroom I focus on language skills, cognitive skills, and functional routine.
Outside of the classroom I coach youth soccer and I am a local 4-H leader. I have coached in the spring and fall for the past four years. I have a B.A. in communications and sociology, and an MAT in Early Childhood Education P -4. I have worked as a substitute teacher in the public school system for one year. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Training I've received includes Educating Children with Asperger’s Syndrome in the General Education Classroom, 6 hours. I have also had over 30+ hours of training with ASD. I work with students diagnosed ASD, including Asperger's Syndrome.
I have worked with students diagnosed with Autism for the past two years. I was a one-on-one aid for one student who was nonverbal. I worked with him and he currently is very verbal and is able to function in a classroom setting. Also, my classroom is for students with ASD. I have had 30 hours of training in the Star program through Easter Seals.
I graduated in December 2014 with a MAT in Early Childhood Education P-4. Through my coursework and student teaching I have experience with common core.
I received my Masters of Art in Teaching Early Childhood Education in December 2014. I have volunteered as an after school tutor for the public elementary school.
I have taken Pre-K ELLA, 30 hours, training. I also work on phonics with my preschoolers.
I have taken and passed the PRAXIS I and II on my first attempt for Arkansas requirements.
I have obtained a F Certificate for Coaching Youth Soccer, 7 hours, through the Arkansas State Soccer Association. I have coached, as a head coach for boys and girls, during the spring and fall seasons. I have coached teams from age 5 years through 10 years.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of the Ozarks. My coursework also included two independent studies during my senior year.
