With a background that includes a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the University of Central Arkansas and National Board Certification, I bring a strong foundation in both subject expertise and reflective, research-based practice. I have also earned College Board certification for AP and Pre-AP instruction, which has strengthened my ability to design rigorous, vertically aligned curriculum. Over the past thirteen years, I have continued to pursue professional learning that supports equitable instruction, literacy development, and the integration of meaningful technology tools.

My teaching experience spans grades 9–12 in both AP and Pre-AP English, where I have worked with a wide range of learners in classroom, hybrid, and one-on-one settings. I have designed and delivered instruction in AP Literature, AP Language, ACT preparation, and literacy intervention, using data-driven strategies, differentiated learning pathways, and writing workshop methods. Many of my students have demonstrated measurable growth in analytical reading, rhetorical analysis, and writing sophistication, and I have regularly supported first-time AP students as well as advanced learners seeking enrichment. My approach blends high expectations with warmth, humor, and authentic relationship-building, which helps create an environment where students feel valued and willing to take academic risks.

Across my career, I have collaborated with Professional Learning Communities, mentored new teachers, and adapted instruction for remote and hybrid contexts while preserving engagement and achievement. I have also incorporated technology-rich instruction—such as multimedia lessons, interactive tools, and digital writing portfolios—to support varied learning styles. Whether working with individual students, small groups, or full classes, I focus on building confidence, strengthening skills, and helping learners exceed their own expectations.

Over the past thirteen years, I have had the privilege of guiding high school students in grades 9–12 through the intricacies of English language and literature, from foundational skills to the rigor of AP Literature and AP Language. My teaching blends analytical precision with creativity, fostering both academic growth and a genuine love of reading and writing. I design individualized lessons for online learning environments that challenge students while honoring their unique strengths, providing personalized support through writing workshops, ACT preparation, and targeted skill development to empower each learner to reach their fullest potential.
