I start the first session of tutoring with multiple assessments to find out what reading level your child is on, what their fluency rate is, and their comprehension. Depending on the age/grade of the student, I also will use an assessment to evaluate their spelling ability. All of the assessments I administer are used to see the whole picture of the student, and find what would be the best plan of action in regards to tutoring. I will monitor progress of the student every 4-6 sessions. Students are encouraged to set goals, and monitor their progress as well.
