Hi, I’m Tanner! I’m a passionate, experienced tutor with degrees in Neuroscience and Spanish from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My tutoring journey began when I scored a 33 on the ACT at age 16, and since then, I’ve helped students prepare for this challenging exam by focusing on content review, critical thinking strategies, and consistent practice. During college, I worked with Magic City Tutoring company, where I specialized in one-on-one support for high school and college students. I encourage all of my students to take full-length practice tests regularly and guide them through reviewing their mistakes so they can build both confidence and mastery over time.
In addition to test prep, I have two years of experience teaching English as a Second Language through the Literacy Council in Birmingham, working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds. I’m passionate about language education and will be completing my World ESL teaching certification in November. I also love tutoring Spanish—especially grammar—and take pride in helping students grow more comfortable and expressive in the language. I’ve worked with learners of all ages, from elementary school students to adults, and I tailor each session to meet their unique goals.
I offer in-person tutoring only because I believe that face-to-face connection allows for a more personal and engaging experience. I aim to create a supportive, motivating environment where students feel heard and empowered to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow.
