Hello! My name is Ruby, and I am a college student currently completing my coursework with a minor in Spanish Language and Culture. Right now I am at Southern Union State College but will transfer to Auburn University in the next year. My goal as a tutor is to create a patient, encouraging, and highly adaptable online learning environment that helps K-12 students build their academic confidence. While I focus heavily on reading comprehension and English as a Second Language (ESL), I am also excited to help young students learn introductory Spanish. Because of my minor, I have a strong conversational grasp of the language and know how to get my point across clearly, making me a fantastic fit for students who want a friendly peer to help them practice basic vocabulary, phrases, and school assignments.
While I do not hold a formal teaching degree, my background in professional customer service and digital engagement gives me a distinct advantage. Having worked in high-volume retail roles—including under Publix's strict corporate standards of service—I have mastered the patience, clarity, and positive reinforcement required to keep students motivated. Furthermore, my hands-on experience running an e-commerce business and creating digital media means I know how to stay highly engaging on camera. I use clear visual communication, digital resources, and enthusiastic reinforcement to keep students entirely focused through a computer screen, ensuring our sessions are interactive and productive.
My tutoring approach is completely customized to meet each individual student's needs, whether they are a child learning to read or an older student tackling general school curriculum. I focus on breaking down difficult concepts into simple, manageable steps to build real confidence. Because I balance my own coursework online, I have wide-open daytime, evening, and weekend availability to seamlessly accommodate your family’s busy schedule. I look forward to partnering with you!
