I have two Bachelor's degrees, a Master's degree, and a PhD. Primarily I have studied math, but my first Bachelor's was a mix of English literature and social sciences. I have recently started a postdoctoral research position but unfortunately will not be teaching. I love to teach and tutor, so I would like to pick up some tutoring hours to supplement the fact that I don't currently have classes to teach.
I work hard to make math less intimidating for my students, and my approach to teaching and tutoring is to encourage, explain concepts in multiple ways, adapt to students' different learning styles, and I work hard to provide a good base of knowledge for students to build on.
I have over 10 years of tutoring math and ACT/SAT tests. Additionally, I have taught math classes at the undergrad and grad level at two different universities. I am happy to tutor students from the junior high/middle school levels up through graduate level at university. While I can absolutely tutor students that are younger than this, I find my skill set is better with students who have moved beyond elementary school.
I have over 10 years experience in tutoring all aspects of the ACT and SAT tests. The vast majority of my students have improved their test scores significantly. I have taught at the University level: anything from basic math to graduate real analysis lectures. My doctorate is in pure math with a focus on partial differential equations, geometric measure theory, and harmonic analysis.
