You need a guide to be patiently detail-oriented yet through & who will push you to excel beyond your wildest dreams. You may be doubtful of the road ahead – maybe you left something to the last minute or you tried to do the assignment, only to find out you had no clue where to start. I’ve been there. Let me be your “bridge” to that coveted A+. I have primarily tutored K-12 in academic subjects – my specialty is 8-12th grade. I tutor through bringing college Latin & Greek Etymological Prefixes, Roots, & Suffixes to a high school level – I particularly specialize in breaking down the Verbal, Reading, and Writing portions of the following Standardized Tests - AP, CLEP, IB, PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, & MCAT. Cut your study time in half by ascertaining the necessary vocabulary, study tools, and writing skills by playing games, learning rules, and building – from the ground up – your expertise into a rock-solid foundation that you can resource either on the test or professionally. I tutor in Classical Latin 1-3. My college professor was Dr. Richard Gerberding, and he actively trained me in Beginning – Advanced Classical Latin. I have 17+ years’ experience in Latin/English Grammar, Vocabulary, and Translation work and have taught on Wyzant for almost a decade in Latin and English. I am a former double major with 4 years in English Literature & Composition as well as History with a Classical Cognate. I am a passionate “word nerd” – the type you need to unscramble your next Scrabble. I write my own curriculum & tutor in it, and am a firm believer of “no student left behind.” I use my 3 Business & Accounting degrees to run my tutoring businesses. I excel at virtual 1-on-1 and group tutoring sessions both. I have helped all types of learners – my specialties are with kinesthetic, logical, solitary, auditory, & visual. Dare to excel? Come train with me!

Approved Subjects

American History

American History

I tutor in American, Governmental, Business, Literature, and Military History for K-12, APUSH, College and Graduate History courses. I have researched and traced the American, Governmental, Business, Literature, & Military History from its inception in 1775 to Present Day through the major and minor historical details, laws, trade, books, & wars. My favorite time period to research is WW1.
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I am a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and I have both composed and led multiple Bible Studies for K-12 as well as adults (male & female) under pastoral leadership for 10+ years. For 4+ years, I have been a Worship Leader of two separate churches - Families for Christ Fellowship and Abundant Life Baptist Church - not just choosing melodies to sing from but also working one-on-one with the pastor in leading worship. One summer, I teamed up with the families of Abundant Life Baptist Church and set their Vacation Bible School (VBS) memory verses to original music for the K-12 students to memorize! I combine my love of Biblical languages - Latin first and then Hebrew - to bring out the stories behind the books of the Bible - its history, culture, and language - to explain the truth of Jesus Christ to a new generation.
European History

European History

Hi, I'm a European History and Western Civilizations tutor! I introduce students from Prehistory to Modern Day in Europe; my favorite period to study is the WW1 era. I help with AP European History, CLEP Western Civilizations 1 & 2, and also the college level Western Civilizations 1 & 2 classes. If you are interested, do not hesitate to reach out!
Homeschool

Homeschool

I've been home-schooled since the later half of 3rd grade through high-school (for 10 years) and I've been a Homeschooling Coordinator for 2+ years on my own so I am familiar with the triumphs as well as the struggles of home-schooling. There's no one "right" way to solve a problem. Each student is different. Let me help you experience the joys of home-schooling!
Latin

Latin

I've tutored in Latin 1, 2, and 3 for 8+ years at Wyzant through both immersion-based and grammar-based textbooks. I've assisted students from 4 years old to those who are seniors in the Latin and English alphabet, pronunciation, grammar, vocab, and translations. My focus is honing a student's understanding of different Latin grammar and vocab compared with English so that the language pupil will become more well-rounded in both languages.
Religion

Religion

I am a passionate Religious researcher and tutor. My study of religion has lead me through many doors - learning Latin to better study the original primary source documents of the Roman empire and the Catholic church as well as learning Hebrew to better understand the Yom Kippur War (and other parts of modern Jewish History), the Hebrew Old Testament, & The Hobbit; and more! I use Latin and Hebrew to unlock the mystery, culture, history, and context of original primary source documents to give you the student a varied cultural and historical study in order to better understand the religious documents and varied faiths of our world. Whether it's one faith or one religious document you may be seeking enlightenment for, I invite you to dig deep with me into the religions of this world!
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

Sometimes vocabulary can be confusing, whether it's the prefix, verb or noun stem, or suffix. I can show you from my 17+ years of Latin how to break down a word etymologically and pull out a meaning without ever having to learn a different language. This is especially helpful for standardized tests - like spelling tests, or the AP, CLEP, IB, PSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, etc. - where you need a meaning immediately but lack a dictionary on hand. I can help you study for your next big exam and lay the foundation for words that will propel you forward in school, your professional career, reading/reading comprehension, and writing.
World History

World History

I offer tutoring for K-12 History, AP World History, College and Graduate History, specifically focusing before 1200 CE to Present. I hone my students' skills in Chicago writing format and citations while teaching them to analyze primary and secondary sources of information to the extent that my students may challenge, inspire, and educate the public in History. I am an out-of-the-box historian, writer, and tutor with over 17+ years' experience as a double major in English Literature and Composition as well as History with a Classical Cognate; I thrive in delving into other Histories through various languages (most notably Latin and Hebrew) and literatures. My college History professor was Dr. Richard Gerberding, who specialized as an Oxford University scholar in Latin and in Medieval History - Come train with me!

Very Helpful, Patient, and Knowledgable tutor

My daughter is taking a Latin class, and we have been looking for a tutor to help her with translations and teach her Latin to help her better understand. We came across Sarah's account, and I loved all her experience. My daughter has loved working with her because she doesn't just give the translation answers away; she worked with my daughter to better understand her work's verbs, nouns, and in-depth structure. If you are looking for an affordable, experienced, and kind Latin tutor, I recommend Sarah.

Exceptional Latin Tutor: A Testimonial for Sarah

I strongly recommend Sarah for Latin tutoring and will definitely use her again. My son, currently in 6th grade Latin, missed the abative content and struggled with the material. In a last-minute emergency, Sarah, whom neither I nor my son had ever met, kindly agreed to tutor him. My initial impression of Sarah was that she exhibited exceptional politeness, kindness, and patience. Despite being a typical shy 12-year-old, my son found it easy to open up to Sarah, who demonstrated a keen sensitivity to his needs, listened attentively, and helped him feel at ease. Thank you so much, Sarah.

Knowledgeable and skilled tutor

Sarah is a great tutor. She makes me feel validated that all my struggles are not just all on me and that she also went through similar issues. She did a great job communicating with me and made conversing about these complex topics fun and easy to digest. As well as helping me not to overthink the problem. As she would give me examples but would point out the mistakes to lead me on the right track if am lost.

She provided multiple examples and explanations to ensure I thoroughly understood the material we were going through. We slowly went through chapters, ensuring I understood every topic on the subject matter. She did a great job communicating with me and made conversing about these complex topics fun.
