Hello! My name is Peter and I am a music teacher/pianist. I went to school for music education as a trumpet primary but ended up switching to piano performance. I went to Jacksonville State University, where I got to study under amazingly talented professors.

I have been a trumpet tutor for 5+ years, and I have worked as the brass tech for many band camps in that time. I have played piano professionally for 4 years, during which time I have accompanied for countless students, choirs, shows, churches, and other individuals. There is a video on youtube of my senior recital from a couple years ago if you would like to hear me play, and I also have started actively post clips of my more recent projects on my TikTok (@pwightt)

I am very passionate about music, and there is nothing more exciting to me than helping someone else develop a deeper understanding of my craft. I have a myriad of free resources for each of the subjects that I teach, and I work well with many different age groups.

When teaching lessons, I will make sure that you have a very good understanding of the technique that I am trying to teach you, and that you are able to replicate the technique at a proficient level so that you will be able to practice throughout the week to master the technique without any guidance.

When teaching other subjects I believe it is very important to know what you are hoping to do with the knowledge that I can give you. If I understand your goals, I can tailor the course to better help you get there.

Above all else I do not teach anything without also explaining why that thing is important. It is not my goal to just teach you a skill, My goal is to teach you how to grow your skill.
