Hello. I graduated cum laude with a History degree and an English minor. I have frequently had to draw on my broad liberal arts education in teaching a variety of subjects, including World History, Geography, American Government, World Literature, Creative Writing, and English as a Second Language. I taught at a school for six years and have been teaching English as a private tutor for 3 years. My knowledge of the Russian language has especially helped me teach speakers of that language....

Texts are a teacher's best friends. In them, students find new words, thought-provoking ideas, necessary facts, and inspiration for their own writing. My teaching method centers around texts; primary sources, textbooks, novels, short stories, poems, etc. Together we go deeper to understand the background of the text, the authors, and what lessons we can learn.
I have also found that individualized instruction is much better at providing for students' needs than that provided in a large classroom. In a smaller setting, a teacher can tailor the instruction to the student's level and take account of the student's individual strengths and weaknesses.
