My passion for teaching began early peer tutoring in math, helping my classmates work through Pre-Algebra up to Algebra 2/Trigonometry. After graduating as valedictorian in Mobile, Alabama, in 1994, I earned my BS in Political Science from Spring Hill College in 1998 and my JD from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2000. Before returning to education, I built a rewarding career across law, accounting, project management, and executive leadership—and I still enjoy working part-time preparing business tax returns. This diverse journey gives me a well-rounded background in both analytical reasoning and quantitative logic that I draw on every day when working with students.
Since 2022, I have dedicated myself to tutoring high school and college students at a learning center where I previously served as Lead Teacher and Exam Prep Manager. Today, I focus on direct instruction, helping students aged 14 to 18 tackle subjects like the ACT, SAT, AP courses (History, English, Physics, Biology), college accounting, and the LSAT. Because I scored a 172 on the LSAT and a 33 on the ACT when qualifying in 2022, I enjoy teaching across all test sections rather than specializing in just verbal or math. Whether we are meeting in person, in small groups, or online via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, my goal is to guide students to their full potential—like one of my exam prep students who earned a 36 on her ACT and was admitted to Harvard.
I take a holistic approach to tutoring, looking beyond a single assignment to help students build confidence, better study habits, and real test stamina. For example, because math is cumulative, falling behind on just one concept often leaves students convinced they aren't "math people." I love helping students identify that exact missing skill, fill in the gap, and watch that "eureka" moment light up their face as they begin to see they CAN learn math. By pairing logical strategy with a supportive environment, I help students replace anxiety with genuine academic confidence.
