I am a dedicated educator and lifelong learner committed to preparing the leaders of tomorrow through purposeful, data-driven instruction and meaningful mentorship. I earned both my Master of Education in Secondary Education with a focus in English Language Arts and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of South Alabama, maintaining a 4.0 GPA across all three academic programs. My academic record also includes a 32 composite score on the ACT, with 35s in both English and Reading, demonstrating a strong foundation in literacy and communication. Prior to college, I graduated third in a class of 700 and completed an AP Capstone thesis titled “Does the American Classroom Stifle Children’s Creativity?”—a topic that continues to influence my teaching philosophy by emphasizing creativity, inquiry, and critical thinking in the classroom.
Professionally, I currently serve as a 6th grade reading teacher. Previously, I taught English Language Arts and Math, coached Scholar’s Bowl, and sponsored Diamond Dolls while earning recognition as Teacher of the Week. I have three years of experience utilizing IXL, using the platform to analyze student performance data, differentiate instruction, and support targeted skill development. In August, I will begin a Ph.D. program in Educational Psychology, further strengthening my ability to apply research-based strategies to improve student learning and development. Additionally, I am currently working toward TESOL certification and certification through Harvard’s Project Zero, expanding my expertise in language instruction and visible thinking routines. Through continuous professional development, leadership, and community engagement, I strive to create engaging learning environments that foster academic success while instilling lifelong skills students can carry into their daily lives and future careers.
