My name is Courtney! I graduated as part of the Alpha Chi Omega Honor Society at William Carey University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in history. I continued my education at William Carey University to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching. I am a certified teacher in English, writing, and history. I received the 2019 PREP Growth Award for my students' growth on the Mississippi State Test. As a state tested teacher, my students have consistently placed in the top 20 on the state accountability model.
I have dedicated 12 years to teaching English Language Arts and writing. Over the years, I realized that my students were all on different levels. I had to tailor my curriculum to meet the individual students' needs. I had the opportunity as a classroom teacher to tutor students one on one and also in small groups of 5-10. As a tutor, I have worked with students on reading and analyzing classic literature, writing essays, and preparing for the PreACT. My passion is helping students reach their academic goal through individualized lesson plans, visual aids, and interactive lessons. I have dedicated myself to helping students build confidence in their writing and literary analysis by asking thought provoking questions and providing clear objectives and explanations with regular feedback.
