Hi there, I'm Sydney! I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Justice and Peace Studies, and a double minor in Disability Studies and Theology. In college, I realized the classes I enjoyed allowed me to write analytically and creatively. In addition, by going to a small school I was able to build relationships with my professors and enjoyed the course much more because of that. I try to bring this to my tutoring style. I am a very outgoing and personable individual with a knack for forming relationships with all types of people. I think this is extremely important when trying to gain new skills or learn challenging material. I use the students' assignments and previous examinations/evaluations to look at the problem areas and move on from there by providing tips for improvement but move further into the material if there is a foundational issue.
While taking the ACT, I consistently received a 35 and 36 on both humanities sections. I also have 1-2 years tutoring experience in reading and elementary math. When encountering students who have learning disabilities, I first ask what works best for them and the ways I should alter my man to make it work best for them.
