I’m Jennifer, a tutor and homeschool coach with a B.S. in Math and over 15 years of combined teaching and tutoring experience. As both a homeschool mom and an experienced educator, I love helping students truly understand and appreciate math instead of suffering through it just to meet a state requirement. I work with students from elementary math through high school, including Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics.

My teaching philosophy is simple: students can truly enjoy math once they understand it and build confidence. A strong foundation, consistency, and creative problem-solving skills are critical to success. I've worked with students who were struggling, prepping for standardized exams, and ready to accelerate beyond grade level. Every child learns differently, and I enjoy tailoring lessons to fit each student's needs and learning style.

My background includes teaching high school Precalculus and AP Statistics, tutoring through Wyzant since 2011, and helping students prepare for standardized exams. I also hold a Master's degree in International Relations from BSIS and completed post-grad work in Applied Statistics at NYU.

I enjoy working with students from all backgrounds, but I have a special appreciation for homeschool families. As a 2nd-generation homeschool mom, I understand the opportunities and challenges that come with teaching at home. Whether you're using Saxon, Singapore, Abeka, or another curriculum, I'm happy to work alongside your homeschool program to help your student build confidence, master difficult concepts, and develop a lasting love of math.

In addition to working directly with students, I offer Homeschool Math Strategy Sessions for parents. These one-on-one coaching sessions help you navigate questions about curriculum choices, math acceleration, pacing, placement, or learning roadblocks. Sometimes a single conversation with an experienced homeschool math educator can provide the clarity and plan you need to move forward with confidence.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

In addition to tutoring, I have taught high school Algebra 2 as well as prepared students for the Regents exam (New York).
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I have worked with statistics students from AP level in high school, to undergraduate, to graduate level statistics courses. When I did my post-graduate studies in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research, many of our data sets and projects where taken from biostatistics. I may not have the background to help specifically with an experiment design, but I can help with everything from cleaning messy data to running the numbers and interpreting the results.
Business

Business

I have tutored undergraduate as well as graduate level (MBA) students in business statistics. Most business students are taking statistics for the first time and are new to stats tools in Excel as well as other software. I'm familiar with the types of projects and assignments MBA students are typically assigned and enjoy explaining how statistics can answer their questions.
Calculus

Calculus

I have a degree in mathematics and over ten years experience tutoring calculus.
Data Science

Data Science

After a few years of teaching statistics, I went back to graduate school to study Applied Statistics for Social Science Research at NYU. And "Applied Statistics" is just code for Data Science. In terms of Data Analytics, I am proficient in R, Python and STATA. My favorite part of the Data Science life cycle is Exploratory Data Analysis - it's the part that makes me feel most like a detective!
GMAT

GMAT

I have 5 years of experience tutoring and teaching the GMAT.
Homeschool

Homeschool

I am currently a homeschool teacher to three kids and was personally homeschooled K-12, so I have had the complete homeschool experience. I also have the credentials to teach mathematics and English in particular: I graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Mathematics, taught high school mathematics and AP Statistics, and tutored math and statistics at the K-12, undergrad, and graduate level for over 15 years. I also did post-grad studies in Applied Statistics at NYU. In addition to credentials in teaching mathematics, I'm also a certified English teacher, having passed the Cambridge exam for teachers and possess a TEFL certification as well as several years of experience teaching English as a second language. Besides teaching credentials for math and English, I have a Master's degree in International Relations and a certification in French. This diverse academic background and work experience qualifies me to teach not only English and math, but history and social studies as well as guide foreign language instruction at the K-12 level for homeschoolers.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have over ten years of tutoring precalculus as well as high school teaching experience.
SAT Math

Great first session!

Jennifer was very easy going and helped me begin reviewing for the GMAT. We stayed on tasks and helped develop an initial game plan for moving forward. She is very down to earth and made me feel comfortable going at a slower pace.

Great teacher

Jennifer made me view my math lesson in a new way that made it clearer and helped me understand the content thoroughly. She let me show her what I needed help on for specific questions then showed me different ways to arrive at the same answer. I would recommend!

Nice and on time

Jennifer has tutored my daughter twice in Geometry. My daughter says that Jennifer makes everything clear and that she has a complete understanding of the material after each session. She is also very nice and always on time. I would highly recommend Jennifer as a Math tutor

Making a difference in just one session!

Alyssa loved Jennifer! She is kind, patient and knows her material. Alyssa was a different person approaching her midterm after just one session with Jennifer who was Well prepared ...above and beyond...for the tutor session. Jennifer helped Alyssa identify the basic concepts she was missing ( that her teacher didn't teach!) and apply them to the more complex material that her teacher expected her students to know. This is exam week...but we will definitely be setting up a weekly schedule with Jennifer for the AP exam!
