Bio

Hello! I recently graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Master's degree in English. Throughout my graduate program, I was employed by the university as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, through which I taught first-year college courses (EH 101, EH 102, & EH 101 Lab) and tutored students one-on-one at the Student Success Center. Throughout this process, I found that breaking the writing process down and setting small goals for students allowed them to build upon their skills one step at a time. During tutoring sessions, I like to set one reasonable goal for the session, focus on building specific skills they struggle with, and send them home with further resources or plans for moving forward.

In addition to my teaching and tutoring experience, I also worked on a thesis to earn my degree. I have a clear understanding of the thesis process from initial research to line-by-line editing and the defense.

Altogether, these experiences over the last two years have prepared me to help students with anything from the essay writing process to a much larger research project. I can help students to learn little details like grammar and punctuation or to focus on the big picture with elements like writing organization or flow.

I look forward to helping students in any way that I can. My favorite part of tutoring is watching students realize they have the ability to do things they thought they couldn't. It is my goal to instill confidence in students' abilities and push them to aim for growth rather than perfection.

I taught College Writing 1 and College Writing 2 for 2 years. In these courses, I taught students various types of writing and the step-by-step writing process. In addition, I tutored students, one-on-one, during my first semester. In these sessions, many students came to me with in-progress papers for editing or help with the writing process.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

Throughout my graduate program, I completed a thesis project over the course of 10 months, from the initial research to the final line-by-line proofreading and editing. At the culmination of my project, I also completed my defense, publication, and conference presentation of the thesis research. This lengthy process, combined with my experience teaching the writing process, allows me to aid students in more complex writing and research processes.
