I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English from Ursuline College and a Master’s degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and Composition Theory from Cleveland State University. During graduate school, I focused heavily on writing instruction, grammar, critical reading, composition, and communication skills, all of which directly support the subjects I tutor today.
I have experience working with students in both university and individualized learning settings. In a university writing center environment, I assisted students with essays, grammar, organization, revision, and writing development. I have also worked with students one-on-one in online tutoring sessions focused on reading, vocabulary, writing, language arts, and ESL support.
My primary focus is helping elementary and middle school students strengthen reading and writing skills. I work with students on phonics, vocabulary, reading comprehension, sentence structure, paragraph writing, and organization. I especially enjoy working with students who need additional support, feel frustrated with reading or writing, or benefit from step-by-step instruction.
I also work with adult ESL learners who want to improve conversational English, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading comprehension, and writing fluency. I enjoy helping adult learners become more comfortable and confident communicating in English for everyday life, work, and personal goals.
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and structured. I believe students learn best when lessons are broken into manageable steps and adjusted to fit their learning style and pace. I use guided practice, repetition, reading discussion, conversation practice, and real-world application to help students retain and apply new skills.
I primarily teach in one-on-one online settings and believe consistent practice and encouragement are important for long-term progress. I enjoy helping students build stronger academic skills while developing confidence in their abilities.
