I am a building engineer with over 20 years of professional experience applying mathematics and analytical problem-solving in real-world settings. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Sustainable Engineering, and throughout my career I have relied heavily on Algebra, Geometry, and advanced quantitative reasoning to design, analyze, and solve complex engineering challenges. I have prior experience tutoring Algebra and Geometry and enjoy helping students move from frustration to clarity by breaking down difficult concepts into logical, manageable steps. In addition to mathematics, I have extensive experience using Microsoft Excel in professional environments for data analysis, formula development, reporting, and technical decision-making, and I enjoy helping students and professionals build practical, confidence-boosting skills in Excel.

My tutoring approach is structured, patient, and supportive. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind a concept rather than simply memorizing procedures. I work to identify foundational gaps, strengthen core skills, and guide students toward independent problem-solving. Whether working with middle or high school math students or adults seeking to improve their Excel proficiency, I create a calm and encouraging learning environment where questions are welcomed and progress feels achievable. My goal is not only to improve grades or technical skills, but to build lasting confidence and analytical thinking abilities that extend beyond our tutoring sessions.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have a strong background in mathematics through my engineering education and more than 20 years of professional experience applying mathematical concepts to real-world problems. I enjoy helping students understand Algebra by breaking problems down into clear steps and explaining the reasoning behind each step. My goal is to help students build confidence and develop problem-solving skills they can use independently.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a strong background in mathematics through my engineering education and more than 20 years of professional experience applying mathematical concepts to real-world problems. Algebra II builds on many important skills such as solving quadratic equations, working with functions, and understanding exponential and logarithmic relationships.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry becomes much easier when the concepts start to connect visually and logically. With my background in mechanical engineering, I help students understand the reasoning behind geometry rather than just memorizing formulas. In our sessions, we'll work through key topics such as angles, triangles, similar figures, the Pythagorean theorem, and coordinate geometry step by step. I focus on building confidence and problem-solving skills so students can approach geometry problems methodically and succeed on homework, quizes, and exams.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and am a licensed Professional Engineer with industry experience in HVAC, energy, and building systems. I use thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow daily in real-world design, equipment selection, and controls applications. I also have an M.S. in Sustainability Engineering, with a focus on high-performance and energy-efficient systems. I help students connect core mechanical engineering concepts to practical applications so they truly understand the material.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

I use Microsoft Excel every day as a mechanical engineer working on HVAC, energy, and building system projects. I specialize in formulas, pivot tables, charts, and organizing data to support real-world analysis and decision-making. I work with both students and professionals, providing clear, step-by-step guidance on assignments, labs, and workplace spreadsheets. My goal is to make Excel approachable and help you build practical skills and confidence quickly.
Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have extensive experience using Microsoft PowerPoint to create clear, professional presentations for engineering projects, meetings, and technical reports. As a mechanical engineer, I regularly communicate complex ideas through visual slides and structured presentations. I can help students and professionals learn how to design clean slides, organize content effectively, add charts and graphics, and deliver presentations with confidence.
Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word

I have extensive experience using Microsoft Word to create clear, well-formatted documents in professional and academic settings. I can help students with document formatting, tables, page layout, and organizing written assignments. My goal is to help students produce professional-looking documents while learning the tools that make Word efficient and easy to use.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have a strong foundation in mathematics through my mechanical engineering degrees and over 20 years of professional engineering experience. Pre-algebra concepts such as fractions, ratios, percentages, and basic equations for the building blocks for higher level math, and I enjoy helping these students develop confidence with these fundamentals. I focus on helping students recognize patterns and understand the reasoning behind each step so they can solve problems independently. My goal is to make math clear, logical, and less intimidating for younger students.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I help students understand per-calculus topics such as functions, logarithms, sequences, trigonometry, and polynomial behavior. With my engineering background, I focus on breaking complex problems into clear steps so students can build confidence and solve problems independently. My goal is to help students strengthen the algebra and trig skills needed to succeed in calculus later.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have a strong background in mathematics though my engineering education and professional experience. I help students understand trigonometry concepts like the unit circle, trip identities, and solving equations step by step so they can feel confident on homework and tests. My goal is to break problems down into clear manageable steps so students build confidence and perform better on tests.
