Hi there! Ready to get ready for the NCE, ACT, or learn some math? Let's get started!
I am an associate licensed counselor (ALC) under supervision of John Thorington, LPC-S, in Huntsville, AL. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in clinical mental health counseling. I also recently passed the NCE. I have always performed well in school in all subjects (straight A's since middle school) and have a particular affinity toward math. I scored a 32 on the ACT during my first attempt, and beyond helping you with the material itself, I have a good understanding of standardized tests in general and can teach you strategies that will carry across to the ACT, SAT, NCE, etc.
I'm mainly here to help with NCE tutoring since I recently passed and during my internship, I sat in on some of my supervisor's tutoring sessions with ALCs studying for the NCE and helped tutor them, and my supervisor said I have a knack for it, so I'd like to help others.
My approach is largely student-led: I expect you to come prepared with things you would like to work on, such as concepts you would like more information on or questions you would like to ask. I can also help with learning studying strategies and memorization techniques, as somebody with a poor memory (meaning I have had to develop strategies to compensate). I will not do your homework for you, but I am happy to walk you through a question or two so you can learn the procedure, tapering you off into increasingly independently completing the tasks.
I look forward to working with you!
