During my tenure as an educator, I have trained extensively in coursework for the science of reading, including LETRS training, Leaders in Literacy - an explicit, systematic approach to teaching reading intervention with multi-sensory strategies to teach struggling readers. I have also been trained in Phonics First, which is one of the gold standard curriculum for reading instruction for students that show dyslexic tendencies. These instructional methods and curricula have been practiced and put to the test in my classroom. I am a highly qualified teacher and I hold an additional Reading Certificate in my state. My past data confirms that under my instructions students have made great gains in reading achievement.
I have recently trained in state of the art, mathematics instruction, including OGAP Additive Reasoning and AMSTI Mathematics Instruction. These programs allow me to come up with creative lessons that are geared to individual student needs. I am able to assess and evaluate student problem-solving samples to identify where they are developmentally and adapt to provide effective lessons to help move them up to higher levels. I am able to incorporate the concrete level of learning, the connecting level of math and the symbolic/ abstract level of math as students transition from one stage of development to the next. Mathematics begins with the basic conceptual understanding of number. I can move your student into fluency in operations and algebraic thinking beginning with pre assessment.
