Hi, I’m Erika! I hold advanced graduate-level training in education and am currently pursuing a doctoral degree, with a strong foundation in teaching, learning development, and evidence-based instructional practices. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have developed a deep commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs, particularly within special education settings. I am experienced in adapting instruction, using individualized strategies, and creating structured learning environments that foster academic growth, confidence, and independence.
I have several years of experience teaching and tutoring children and adolescents across a wide range of ages, primarily in one-on-one and small-group settings. My background includes working closely with students with special needs in areas such as reading, writing, comprehension, organization, and study skills. I have taught in classroom-based, individualized, and volunteer settings, often supporting students who benefit from patience, consistency, and tailored instructional approaches. I also value collaboration with families and regularly communicate with caregivers to help reinforce learning goals beyond instructional sessions.
My teaching approach is student-centered, calm, and supportive. I focus on meeting students where they are both developmentally and academically by breaking tasks into manageable steps, using clear explanations, and providing positive reinforcement. I strive to create a safe and encouraging learning environment where students—especially those with special learning needs—feel seen, capable, and motivated to succeed. I am always open to feedback and collaboration, and aim to make learning a positive and empowering experience for every student I work with.
