Hello, my name is Abby, and I am excited to become your family's tutor! I attended SDSU from 2019-2023 with a major in Linguistics (TEFL) and a minor in interdisciplinary studies. I was also in the honors college and worked as a resident advisor in on-campus housing. Currently, I am attending graduate school online through the University of Birmingham in the UK in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). I have experience teaching English as a second language in Gwangju, South Korea, where I worked for two years with ages 3-7. I also currently work as a childcare teacher at a daycare here in Foley, AL. Additionally, I teach English to students in China online in the mornings.
As a teacher/tutor, I like to be flexible and learn the particular preferences of each student. Every person has their different strengths and weaknesses in education, and they all have their own unique style of learning. My favorite thing is working with a person to find out what will work to help them succeed in their studies. I try to keep things fun and casual while also being efficient and focused on the work. Any situation can be improved with just a bit of time and dedication to the subject!
I can tutor in English (creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, writing, reading, literature), English as a second language, and also Korean since I have passed the TOPIK I test with a 100%. My specialty is working with children, but I am interested in gaining experience working with any and all ages!
