My name is Denise. I believe that learning should be a way of life. As much as I love learning, I love teaching. I do not believe that learning should be approached with a "one size fits all" mentality". I believe that God created us uniquely. Therefore, our learning styles are varied. Learning should be approached, by applying individual learning styles.
I have a BA in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies, a MA in Human Services Marriage and Family Counseling, and a MA in Human Services Criminal Justice, with a focus on at-risk youth, all from Liberty University. I have a MA in Public Administration from Colorado Technical University. I have a certificate in Interior Decorating from Stratford Career Institute. Of all my undertakings, teaching is my greatest joy.
Most of my teaching experience is in a homeschool setting. I have homeschooled for thirty years, from preschool to 12th grade. I graduated my four children from our homeschool program, all of whom have gone on to be productive citizens (including college degrees, business owners, and business managers). I, currently, direct and teach in a small Christian school. I have taught from K5 to 12th grade. I have tutored students from local public and private schools for 20 years. Most often, the subjects in which I have tutored include reading, math, Algebra I, Pre-algebra, American History, American Government, and Language Arts. For the past three months, I have been tutoring online through an online platform. The subjects, in which, I currently tutor online include phonics, K5 reading and math, middle school reading, math, literature, composition, geometry basics, and spelling.
For over thirty years, I have taught youth music classes in church. I have served as church organist and pianist. I, currently, teach private children's music classes and piano.
Although, devoted to teaching my students, I continue to be a learner. Currently, I am studying Spanish and holistic healing. I want to constantly grow as I help others to grow.
