I am currently an MD/PhD student, having completed my PhD in neurobiology. I attained competitive scores on both Step 1 (243) and Step 2 CK (252). I have tutored over the past 15+ years. I am currently an MD/PhD student, having completed my PhD in neurobiology. I attained competitive scores on both Step 1 (243) and Step 2 CK (252). I have tutored over the past 15+ years. During college, I tutored fellow students in STEM subjects, including biochemistry and anatomy. I also taught STEM and career development skills to middle and high school students in groups of 10 – 20. During medical school, I have tutored peers and, separately, elementary through college students in STEM subjects, including ACT, SAT, and MCAT preparation. During my PhD, I trained and supervised over 20 high school, college, and medical students in basic science research in groups of 2 - 8. I also instructed college-level biology and human physiology laboratory courses (each class had 25 – 30 students). Most recently, I have maintained knowledge, particularly in Step 1 topics, by assisting peers in preparation during my free time.
My core teaching aim is to encourage self-sustainability. I will help guide your way of thinking toward the correct answer without giving the answer directly, while giving positive feedback when you are on the right track and redirection when needed. This will boost your confidence, enhance your independence, and decrease test-taking anxiety and apprehension. These skills are especially important regarding USMLE board exam preparation, as confidence in test-taking and comprehensive reasoning skills are the most fundamental tools needed to succeed.
I know what it is like to fall behind, so I am here to offer you all you need to thrive. I am here to work with you and address your studying strategies thus far and fine-tune them. Sessions will typically entail gauging a baseline of your knowledge and methods used in processing concepts and questions. As we progress, I will adapt to your needs while sharing and utilizing my own strategies that have helped prior students. My schedule is flexible. Please reach out if you have questions or would like to schedule a session!
