Writing has always been Benjamin F.’s greatest passion in life. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Athens State University in December of 2024, graduating Summa cum laude and having worked as a tutor at the Writing Center. Furthermore, he was an officer in the Kappa Zeta Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, promoting literacy and creativity on campus among students and faculty alike.
While tutoring at ASU, Benjamin learned that students have their own, individual struggles when it comes to writing, and no single approach works universally. Rather, each student is unique and should be assisted accordingly. And by adapting to the various, personal needs of students, Benjamin was able to help them overcome their own academic challenges.
It was March of 2023 when Benjamin was hired by the ASU Writing Center. After the first few months, he recognized that the ages of students ranged from 18 to 65 years old. Moreover, their life circumstances varied; some had children and relatives to take care of, while others had jobs that sometimes made scheduling appointments uncertain. Nevertheless, Benjamin sought to learn about every student’s life situation so that he could provide the most convenient and flexible schedules available. Furthermore, through empathy and compassion, he worked diligently to help his students grow more confident and succeed in their classes. This was especially possible by showing each student his or her own inner creativity when it came to writing. By the time he left this position in November of 2024, he had watched as his students graduated college and exceeded the expectations of their professors.
