I have a passion for explaining math in a way that is easy to understand. I have been tutoring middle school, high school, and college math and science for about 4 years. I have a background in biomedical engineering but am currently teaching high school math and physics. I obtained my minor in chemistry in 2020 and have been tutoring chemistry for about one year. When tutoring I aim to not only strengthen math and science skills but to build confidence as well, helping students to succeed long after tutoring.

I have a background in SolidWorks, including holding tutoring sessions for SolidWorks prep. The knowledge I have gained through college coursework has given me the skill set to tutor math, chemistry, physics, and biology. My teaching experience gives me the ability to be an exceptional tutor.

I have been teaching precalculus, calculus, chemistry, biology, and AP physics for 3 years. I’ve been tutoring ACT prep for about 4 years now.

I have experience tutoring pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, calculus, ACT prep, physics, chemistry, biology (with the exception of plants and taxonomy). I have tutored students in need of help with writing and have experience in helping students with learning disabilities.

As someone with ADHD and someone with a family member with autism, I understand that every person learns differently, and some students with learning disabilities require certain modifications to my teaching. For example, autistic students don't like to look people in the eyes. In fact, they will prefer that I look away from them. During my session with such students, I will avoid eye contact with them to make them feel more comfortable while learning the subject they're struggling with.

I have a major in biomedical engineering from UAB, a minor in math, and chemistry. I am one class away from obtaining my minor in biology. I got a 33 composite on my ACT with a 33 in English and reading, a 35 in math, and a 30 in science. I know a few tricks!

Got a 36 on my recent practice exams.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have a minor in math and have tutored students from kindergarten through calculus 3 and linear algebra.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a minor in math and am an engineering student at UAB.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I have a minor in chemistry.

I am one class away from being a biology minor. I am more than happy to help with anything except for plants and taxonomy.
Calculus

Calculus

I have a math minor.
Chemistry

Chemistry

Minor in chemistry, SI leadsr for college chem class (equivalent to a TA)
Physics

Physics

I am required to be proficient in physics for establishing drug delivery in addition to establishing implantable materials per their functional designs. This means I have to use physics to determine whether a certain type of screw would be apt for one bone, etc.

Precalculus

Precalculus

My scope of knowledge spans from kindergarten to linear algebra, including precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III.
Solidworks

Solidworks

I’m a TA in a CAD software class. The class is extensive in Solidworks training. It basically covers everything in Solidworks from making boxes to designing detailed, 3D models. I help college mechanical engineering students get the help they need by walking them through the Solidworks program. I hope I can offer the same guidance to my Wyzant students as I can to them.

Awesome

He was available for a last minute late review when no one else was even though I am on the west coast and he is on the other side of the country. Very kind and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.

Intelligent and helpful

Jake helped me review some chemistry questions from my homework. Understanding chemistry was very challenging for me. Jake worked through the problems with me and helped me understand the material a lot better. I hired him right before my final and asked him the questions I was struggling most with and I was able to pass my chemistry class so I am very grateful!

Knowledgeable Tutor

Jake worked with me on my college level physics material in order to prepare me for an exam. During my sessions with Jake, he made the material easier to understand as well as less impossible. Jake does a good job of making sure that you understand problems before moving to the next one as well as making sure that you could do the problem on your own. He also approaches problems in a way similar to my professor which helped me in the course overall. I now feel more prepared for my physics exam.
