Hello, I'm Elena! I graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Music. My favorite teachers always integrated their own subject areas with other subject areas, revealing the connections between STEM subjects, humanities, and more. I strive to bring this approach to each of my students because I believe that understanding the connections between subjects can only enrich a student's understanding of any given subject.

I have two years of math tutoring experience, during which I worked with K-12 students and undergraduate freshman and sophomores. I have tutored both one-on-one and in small group contexts. I believe that learning should be enjoyable and fulfilling, and I strive to do all that I can to make this achievable for my students. One of the most important factors in a student's success is the student's ability to communicate clearly about the material that they're learning; I keep this goal in mind by explicitly teaching material, and then asking the student questions to foster the development of independent understanding.

I have also taught private flute students and have extensive experience with aural skills and music history. Music is an art form that can enrich anyone's life, and I believe that understanding music on a technical level can aid a student's creative and neurological development while adding beauty to his or her life.
