I received my first undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech in Economics and International Affairs. I continued my education and received my second undergraduate degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham in Accountancy and Quantitative Analysis Studies. I received my Masters degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham in Secondary Mathematics Education. I have a 6-12 Mathematics teaching certificate in the State of Alabama.
I am entering my 7th year teaching at the High School level. I have taught (and am capable of tutoring) Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Finite Mathematics, Finance, and AP Statistics. My primary method of teaching is using The Thinking Classroom model developed by Peter Liljedahl. My classroom is set up to have as many vertical thinking spaces as possible so that students can be up at white boards doing problems together. The goal is to get students as engaged as possible to promote active learning.
