As a 25-year data science/analytics professional, I bring a wealth of “know-how” in ingesting, interpreting, analyzing, and reporting of data. This includes advanced -to-expert knowledge of SAS and Excel, with intermediate expertise in R and Python
Starting out in a pre-health degree track in undergraduate studies, I continued my education with achieving a Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology, a field of study heavily grounded in statistical foundations.
My formal tutoring is in baseball instruction, but I’ve found teaching concepts in physical skills in transferable to mental skills. Beyond that, over my professional career I routinely serve as a subject matter expert among my peers and have enjoyed mentoring peers (including new employees)
My approach to individual tutoring is as follows:
1) Quickly establish a baseline of your understanding of the subject matter in the initial tutoring session
2) Identify any gaps in level of understanding as compared to where the level should be or is expected to be at that time
3) Based on those gaps (if there are any), we will develop a plan together to address those gaps quickly, using any existing curriculum being utilized by you, or curriculum provided by Wyzant
4) From that point on, whether only one session or multiple, I like to establish goals for what understanding/proficiency will be achieved by the end of the session. If more than one session, I like to have a plan of action between sessions.
I believe establishing a good rapport is crucial to success. Part of that rapport is identifying a common language in concepts and terminology, as I thoroughly believe this quickens and enhances the learning process.
