My approach to teaching starts with identifying where students currently are in their learning. If students are lacking in certain prerequisite skills I find it best to teach what they need first and apply those skills to help them in the area they need the most help in. I believe that unlocking prerequisite skills is the key to helping students not only catch up, but it can also help them get ahead in their learning. My approach is also filled with a lot of patience and asking formative questions to assess what students know. I will also backtrack to help fix any learning misconceptions.
