I am an undergraduate student and I was a General Chemistry 2 Lab TA for the University if Alabama at Birmingham during the Fall 2021-Spring 2022 school year. I honestly had a blast taking Organic Chemistry 1 & 2. When I took Organic Chemistry 2 I made mock exams and worksheets that helped students get ready for exams. The problem solving aspect of Organic Chemistry is definitely my jam and I love breaking things down so that people can make the connections for themselves. I love centering my tutoring around the student because that's what tutoring is supposed to be about. If the only person feeling good about the session is the tutor then something has gone wrong.
So as of me writing this I am currently taking Organic Chemistry 2 and I'm holding an A in that. I also got an A in Organic Chemistry 1. I worked really hard in both courses to learn and practice mechanisms of reactions which I did by drawing everything over and over. For UAB's Organic Chemistry 1&2 there's a recitation (which is pretty much a problem solving class) and with each weekly recitation session students are given worksheets to work on and there are challenge problems that are meant for more than one person to work on, and for both Organic Chemistry 1&2 I would work the challenge problems out myself for practice and understanding on top of the studying I was already doing for the course.
Organic Chemistry is not that bad and it gets a wrap for being a very challenging course (which it can be). My experience is that Organic Chemistry is something that anyone can absolutely crush. If you want to tap into your Organic Chemistry Superpower feel free to hit me up. I definitely ask you let me know in advance what concept/topic you want me to help you with so I can prepare. The focus for each tutoring session will be about how YOU CAN do Organic Chemistry.
