I began tutoring in high school and have been tutoring in mathematics for over 30 years, alongside 25 years of classroom teaching experience in both public and private schools. My philosophy is simple: I look at how each student learns and meet them where they are, using their prior knowledge and scaffolding new concepts on top of it. There's nothing I enjoy more than watching a student go from confused to confident.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a Master's degree in Mathematics (6-12) from UAB, and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of West Alabama. I'm certified by the state of Alabama to teach both high school mathematics and computer science. I've also served as an AP Reader for AP Computer Science Principles (2024-2026), was selected to write curriculum for the Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX) as part of the 2026 ALEX Resource Development Summit, and received an ACTM grant for ACT prep. I'm a member of the Alabama Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ACTM) and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA).
Over my career I've taught students from 7th grade through 12th grade in a range of settings, including public high schools, private Christian schools, and technical colleges, both in the classroom and one-on-one. My math courses have included 7th and 8th grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Discrete Math, Pre-Calculus, and AP Pre-Calculus. In computer science, I teach AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, and Programming Foundations, using Java, Python, and C++. Whether I'm helping a student build their first program or work through a tricky proof, I focus on building real understanding, not just getting to the right answer.
