Hi, I’m Sophia! I am currently a Senior at Auburn University majoring in Psychology on a pre-medical track, maintaining a 3.75 GPA. Throughout my academic career, I’ve found that the most impactful mentors were those who could take dense, intimidating concepts and make them approachable. I strive to bring that same clarity to my students. My background in rigorous STEM courses, including Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, and Chemistry, has given me a deep understanding of the material and the specific study strategies needed to succeed in high-level science.
I have extensive experience in both group and individual instruction. I currently serve as a Learning Assistant for Biology 1020 at Auburn, where I support over 200 students by facilitating active learning and simplifying complex biological systems. Beyond my role at Auburn, I am a professional tutor for a local academic center, where I provide high-level support for students in intensive science courses. Whether I’m helping a student prepare for a final or helping students stay ahead on their schoolwork, I adapt my methods to the student's unique learning style, focusing on conceptual understanding rather than just rote memorization.
