Hello, I'm Abby! I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Education. I am a certified mathematics teacher, and I have received certifications in AMSTI (Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative) and ARI (Alabama Reading Initiative). I have five years of tutoring experience, I am passionate about math, and I enjoy helping others learn. I have worked with all types of students and believe everyone can succeed. I work with students in the range of middle school to college. I have classroom teaching experience, but most of my experience has been one-on-one tutoring, which is what I enjoy the most.
My tutoring style is laid-back and stress-free. I know that math can be a hard subject for many people, and I always make sure that students understand the content. I like to figure out students’ learning styles and teach based on that. For example, if a student is a visual learner, I draw pictures to help them understand. I explain concepts in a simple way without using big, scary words. I emphasize that math is not about memorization, it is about learning concepts and understanding what they mean (rather than writing numbers down and having no clue what is happening).
