I have more than twenty-two years of experience as a Special Education teacher supporting students with diverse learning needs. I earned three degrees in Special Education and spent the majority of my career working in classroom settings where I provided individualized instruction and academic support in reading, writing, and mathematics. My role involved developing and implementing individualized education programs, adapting curriculum, and using differentiated instruction to ensure that each student could access the material and make meaningful academic progress.
Throughout my career, I worked with students across multiple grade levels and ability levels, often providing one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce key skills and build confidence. Many of the students I supported required additional structure, patience, and personalized strategies to help them understand concepts and stay engaged in the learning process. I regularly used a variety of teaching methods to meet students where they were academically and helped them develop stronger problem-solving and independent learning skills.
My experience in special education has helped me develop a flexible and supportive teaching approach that focuses on breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps. I believe that every student learns differently, and I take the time to adjust my teaching style to match each student’s needs. My goal is always to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and achieving academic success.
