I was born in rural Alabama and helped support my working class family by harvesting food and fire wood for the winter months. I also worked as a farm hand herding animals and operating farm

I earned my BFA at the University of South Alabama my MFA in studio art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. I lived and worked within the New York City arts community for 16 years. I began tutoring in high school, helping students prepare for their graduation exams. Later, I was a graduate assistant at Pratt before teaching English and ESOL as a volunteer. Most recently I taught art techniques to elementary and middle school children and volunteered teaching art therapy at a homeless shelter in the NYC area.
I have over 20 years experience making art of various mediums, including: drawing, sketching, oil and acrylic painting, oil pastel, new forms, bricolage, and sculpture.
I enjoy teaching and being of service within my community. I encourage all to ask questions and seek out the beauty in the world around them. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule my services.
