I'm Liza. I graduated Boise state University with a Bachelors in Nursing. I found my true passion in education and have the experience to back it up! I'm Liza. I graduated Boise state University with a Bachelors in Nursing. I found my true passion in education and have the experience to back it up! I was a straight A student both in high school and college while working at a preschool. The last four years I have been working as a middle school math and science teacher. I also tutored high school students on and off for the last eight years.
I believe lasting learning starts with strong foundations. I’ve taught 3rd–8th grade in private school classrooms and worked one-on-one with students who needed extra support catching up or advancing beyond their grade level. My teaching experience includes grammar, composition, math (elementary, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry), literature, earth science, life science, and physical science. I am also fluent in Russian and Ukrainian and enjoy introducing students to new languages and cultures.
My approach is hands-on, interactive, and tailored to each student. I will start by assessing what you already know, then build step-by-step toward more challenging concepts. I focus on explaining the “how” and “why” behind a formula or idea—not just the “what”—so you can solve problems even if you forget the rule. I use repetition, working through dozens of problems from different angles until the concept truly clicks. I also ask plenty of guiding questions, helping you think critically and make your own connections.
Whether we’re tackling algebra, breaking down complex science topics, or polishing an essay, my goal is to help you by making challenging material feel approachable, building your confidence, and giving you tools you can use long after our sessions end. I can't wait to work with you, please reach out if you have any additional questions!
