I truly love what I do. Analyzing literature, refining writing, and working with students is something I find fulfilling on many levels. I am an experienced and enthusiastic high school teacher, with over 13 years of classroom teaching to inform my practice. I have taught nearly all the subjects of English Language Arts: World Literature, American Literature, British Literature, AP Literature and Composition (with very high pass rates), honors English classes, remediation/course recovery English, and even Film as Literature. I also am certified to teach Social Studies/Humanities classes, where I have a particular interest in mythology, which is the subject of the current Masters degree. Beyond this, I have directed and taught Drama for over 10 years and love digging into plays, including those tricky Shakespeare ones. I enjoy creative writing and would be happy to offer coaching or feedback on this as well.

I believe that learning should be engaging. Not every subject is going to appeal to every person, but even topics like grammar can be taught in a way that is approachable. One of the elements I enjoyed most about being a classroom teacher was building a rapport with my students and tailoring assignments to their interests/needs. I am hoping that this will be something I can implement further in online teaching since I will be working more one-on-one with students.
