I earned my bachelor's degree from McGill University in Montreal, where I studied mathematics and physical geography. I am a published author of both academic and creative writing. Outside of tutoring, my work focuses on subarctic ecology and place-based education.
I first started tutoring as a teenager, helping my younger sister in math and my aunt in English as a second language. Since then, I have tutored and taught math, writing, and science for elementary school through university. I have experience as both an online and in-person tutor, with group sizes ranging from 1:1 to 30 students.
When I teach, my goal is to listen, not lecture. I ask guiding questions and watch how the student approaches a problem. That way, I can identify the places where the student is stuck and provide verbal and written guidance to help them improve. I enjoy making educational content accessible for all learners and relevant to the student's interests.
