Since 2004, I've worked in elementary schools, and I've been a licensed teacher since 2009. I have classroom experience across multiple elementary grade levels and have served as both a classroom teacher and reading specialist, working with students from kindergarten through 5th grade.
I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Literacy Instruction from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. As a reading interventionist, I specialize in structured literacy, using evidence-based instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. I have extensive experience supporting struggling readers and students with a wide range of learning needs.
I am experienced in using diagnostic reading assessments to pinpoint specific skill gaps and develop individualized plans that help students make meaningful progress. Whether your child needs summer support, ongoing tutoring during the school year, or targeted intervention in a particular reading skill, instruction is tailored to their goals and learning style.
In addition to literacy, I tutor elementary math and have taught English as a foreign language in Vietnam and Peru, where I earned my CELTA certification. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain concepts in clear, engaging ways and adapt instruction for diverse learners.
Parents appreciate that I combine over 20 years of classroom experience with specialized graduate training and a patient, encouraging approach. My goal is not only to improve academic skills but also to help students develop confidence and become more independent learners.
I believe every child can grow with the right instruction, encouragement, and practice. I'd love the opportunity to help your child build the skills—and confidence—they need to succeed.
