I have solid academic expertise in Mathematics, having had extensive experience in the key university-level subjects of calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and mathematical reasoning. My teaching has provided me with both a depth of understanding and precision in the way that I approach complex mathematical structures, and in the way that I can transform the abstract into a clear, logically structured explanation, because I am very concerned with developing a deep and conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas, rather than being stuck on how to do things or memorizing.
My approach involves conceptual understanding, if applicable, reasoning by proof, and systematic problem decomposition. I tailor my teaching to align with the student's current knowledge/understand, start with the basics, then move to more complex applications. I stress students' ability to solve problems independently and with confidence and a methodical approach. I also introduce students to step-by-step reasoning methods that are similar to those used in college mathematics.
I have worked with students in individual and group instruction settings, and helped them with both their coursework and test preparation, as well as higher-level understanding of any given topic. I want to build mathematical fluency that goes beyond the present to empower students to think and analyze mathematically, which will be useful in college and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses. Provide the atmosphere for learning that is professional, results-oriented, where students can engage in intellectual exercise, exercise precision, and grow in their learning.
