Hello! I'm Alex,

I have been a certified English teacher in the Anchorage School District for the past 10 years at three different high schools. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and I am currently working on my Master of Public Administration (with an emphasis on public policy and management). I have been tutoring students in grammar, essay writing, literary analysis, test-taking strategies, and SAT/ACT prep for over a decade now. I take pride in helping students connect the dots between literature, history, and philosophy, and the world at large.

With experience tutoring everything from reading and writing to SAT/ACT test prep and college apps, I enjoy helping students of all ages reach their full potentials. My areas of expertise are all things literature, writing, and college prep—this includes, but certainly is not limited to, general essay writing, literacy, reading comprehension, and writing skills development, ACT test prep, SAT test prep, college application essays, the Common App, and college counseling. Because college admissions looks different for everyone, I tailor my approach to the individual needs of each student. For some students, this might include minimal support and reviewing application essays. For others, this may include more focused guidance through steps such as ongoing test prep for the ACT or SAT, identifying schools that will be a good fit, personal statements and supplemental essays, completing the steps of the applications, and more.
