I’m reaching out to inquire about potential tutoring support for my son, who is currently a high school student enrolled in Math 150 (Calculus with Analytic Geometry I) at Santa Barbara City College.
Math 150 is a first course in college-level calculus and covers topics such as limits, derivatives, applications of derivatives (optimization and related rates), integrals, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. The course moves at a college pace and builds quickly on strong precalculus foundations.
They have just started the course this week, and I’m looking for a tutor who can help him stay on track from the beginning, reinforce core concepts, and develop solid problem-solving skills as the material becomes more rigorous.
Ideally, we are looking for:
•Experience teaching or tutoring Calculus I / college-level calculus
•Comfort working with motivated high school students
•Weekly sessions (with flexibility to increase frequency before exams, if needed)

We are looking for a tutor for our son, ideally 2-3 times a week for the rest of the school year. He is a freshman in High School and he will be taking 9th grade math and regular physics. His ADHD and anxiety cause him to feel overwhelmed and avoid assignments, so we are looking for a tutor who can help guide and mentor him through the skills of being a good student, and be an overall positive role model.
Sessions would be in person after school, either at our home near the mission, or possibly in the library at his school. He is available after 4pm.
