I’m a student at the University of Michigan. I am taking calculus 1 over the summer through an Ann Arbor city College and it’s fully online and self-paced but we have in person midterm and final exam. I am already three weeks into the course so would need to relearn a little bit as well as continue with learning the new material.

I’m a professional in the biological sciences that has been independently learning Japanese as a hobby for a few years (primarily Duolingo and Pimsler) and have visited Japan a few times and love the language and culture. I have no formal education in Japanese and my work schedule is too chaotic to allow for me to take a class at a university which I would otherwise. In person conversation would be preferred if possible to chat and embarrass myself speaking Japanese. I would love corrections on my pronunciation and to help me more deeply understand the grammar. I’m also going to Japan for fun in early July do trying to brush up as best I can to embarrass myself as little as possible. Also I love it culture and so better understanding idioms and customs through language are greatly appreciated.

I’m reaching out because we are looking for a native Spanish-speaking tutor to come to our home for ongoing weekly lessons.
Here’s our situation:
• We have 4 kids: ages 7, 9, 10, and 12
• They have been enrolled in a Spanish Dual Language program since first grade.
• While they speak English fluently and understand Vietnamese, their Spanish skills (especially reading, writing, and speaking confidence) need improvement.
• Our main goal is long-term Spanish fluency — we plan to keep them in the dual language program through high school. We want the lessons to focus on academic skills such as reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary building, and grammar, while also improving conversational skills.
We are considering 2 hours per week total.

I have a very basic understanding of sewing — I’m completely self-taught. I am hoping a tutor could guide me through the process of putting pants together and give me some tips along the way. I’d eventually like to learn how to make different styles of pants as well.

I played piano seriously growing up, competed frequently, and completed CM theory through around Level 8. I have taken a break and am getting back into it. My biggest weakness has always been sight-reading. I’m looking for occasional coaching sessions and would love advice on how to improve my sight-reading and what I can do to practice it effectively on my own.
