I'm looking for a mentor for my high schooler son on an independent mathematics project.
He is currently exploring graph theory, particularly conflict-free coloring. He has been independently reading research papers, working through the underlying concepts, proofs, and developing an expository write-up that makes the material accessible to advanced high-school and undergraduate readers.
He has completed most of his current exposition and, while working through the topic, also developed a small proof/result of his own that he would like to have reviewed and explore further.
We are looking for someone who could provide occasional guidance—recommend appropriate papers or topics to explore next, help with difficult mathematics when needed, and provide feedback on his exposition and any original ideas that develop.
He is also hoping to apply to programs such as MIT PRIMES-USA and RSI, so he would appreciate guidance on developing the mathematical maturity and research skills needed for programs of that level.
