I'm currently a senior at the University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in Information Science. I'm interested in receiving personalized, one-on-one tutoring in SQL and Python.
I've previously completed introductory courses in SQL/database design and Object-Oriented Programming using Python. Although I have experience with both languages, I'm not yet confident in my ability to write code independently, particularly when starting a problem from scratch.
My main goal is to strengthen my programming foundations, improve my problem-solving skills, and become comfortable developing solutions without relying heavily on examples or outside assistance.
I'm especially interested in fashion, sportswear, luxury designer brands, sneakers, and retail business analytics. Some brands I enjoy include Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Arc'teryx, and other designer clothing companies.
I would love to incorporate these interests into our lessons while still learning the essential foundations of SQL and Python.
For example, I'd be interested in projects involving:
* SQL: Clothing inventory databases, customer purchases, product sales, pricing comparisons, and retail business queries.
* Python: Sneaker price comparisons, clothing inventory management, loops, functions, dictionaries, and data analysis.
* Business Analytics: Identifying best-selling products, analyzing fashion trends, and creating sales dashboards.
* Future Goals: Eventually exploring AI automation, recommendation systems, and other applications relevant to fashion and retail businesses.
However, I want to emphasize that I'm not looking to jump straight into advanced projects. I would like to revisit foundational concepts, understand how and why the code works, and gradually progress toward more complex applications.
Ideally, I would like lessons that involve explanations, guided examples, live coding exercises, independent practice, and feedback.

My son, an 11th grader taking Calculus AB and Physics C. I suspect there are some foundational gaps in his conceptual understanding making it to tackle exams well by applying what he practices at home.
I'm looking for a tutor who can start with a bit of a diagnostic conversation ā having him explain concepts in his own words ā rather than just working through homework problems, so we can pinpoint exactly where the understanding breaks down. Ideally someone comfortable covering both Calculus and Physics, since the two overlap so much at this level.
