Looking for an English teacher for my 12-year-old daughter. She has historically been an exceptionally enthusiastic reader and could disappear into books for hours. The last two years, however, have involved significant educational disruption. She has been living in Germany and has been immersed almost entirely in German — speaking German daily and doing the bulk of her school reading and writing in German rather than English. She is fluent in both languages, but I genuinely do not know what effect this period has had on her English writing mechanics, composition, or confidence. I have seen some recent English writing that makes me think capitalization, punctuation, and formal written structure may need rebuilding, even though her underlying verbal ability has historically been very strong. I’m looking for much more than traditional tutoring or homework support. I would love to find an exceptional English teacher who is genuinely passionate about middle-grade and YA literature and can build a long-term relationship with her around books, discussion, critical thinking, and writing. My hope is to reignite her love of reading in English while helping her develop her own strong, authentic writing voice.
