I’m reaching out to explore the possibility of long-term academic support for my son.
Current situation:
· 8th grade boy, will attend School this coming September (9th grade).
· Mathematics is ahead of grade level – he has completed Algebra 1 and Geometry, and will start Algebra 2 in June.
· ELA concerns: He gets all A’s in his current middle school classes, including English. However, on last year’s NJ state ELA test, his score we understand is below the proficient/advanced level. We worry that his current school grading is lenient, and he may struggle with the rigorous reading/writing demands.
What we are looking for:
· A long-term tutor (not just test prep) who can systematically strengthen his ELA skills – literary analysis, evidence-based writing, grammar, and critical reading.
· Ideally someone who can also support his math progression occasionally, but ELA is the primary focus.
· We hope to start sometime before 9th grade begins (summer) and continue regularly during the school year.
