My name is Becky!
I’m beginning my journey to learn European Portuguese as my partner and I are planning to move to Portugal over the next several years. My partner already speaks Brazilian Portuguese, but this will be brand new for me, and I’d like to focus on the European dialect from the start.
I know that I learn best by listening and repeating rather than working through phonetics, so I’m trying to figure out the best way to begin. In your experience, is it more effective to start directly with tutoring and add an audiobook/online tools alongside, or to build some basics first with an audiobook before diving in with a tutor?
We’ll be traveling to Portugal next summer (2026) for a few weeks, and then again in 2027 for a longer stay (1–2 months), so I’d like to feel as prepared as possible for those trips.
Thanks so much,
Becky

I am a 19yr old EMT in Paramedic school and I am looking for a tutor to help me achieve my goal of B-2 level Spanish proficiency. I would like to meet approximately twice a week, combining in person and online learning with what fits our schedules.
Although my Spanish speaking goals are not career driven, I would like to incorporate EMS related vocabulary and communication into my learning goals. Ideally, I would like to start lessons as soon as possible.
Suggested time for first lesson: Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM EDT
